About

Career development has always been an important part of the relationship between employees and the organizations they serve. In this two-part study, we will survey TD professionals to understand what professional development opportunities are supported by organizations, budgets, and the impact of providing professional development to employees. In the second part of the study, we will survey working Americans to understand their professional development expectations.

Key Findings

  • Organizations sponsor a variety of professional development opportunities. Conference attendance, licensure or certification, and formal classroom training are the most common.
  • Organizations are most likely to provide full financial support for online-learning subscriptions, formal classroom training, and conference attendance.
  • Learners rate their employer’s professional development support with nearly 4 out of 5 stars, on average.
  • Eighty-six percent of learners have participated in employer-sponsored professional development.

Primary Capability Covered: Career & Leadership Development

Participation in this event, either live or recorded, can be reported for one (1) professional development point toward initial certification or recertification requirements for the APTD or CPTD credential.
